Seattle Chai Connoisseur

My sister and I love Chai Tea Lattes. We've tasted quite a few. Mostly in Seattle but also in the Bay Area. The challenge is getting the perfect balance of sweet to spicy. Here are some reviews along with the best I've had in Seattle-Sod House Bakery in Ravenna. Made from scratch by the owner herself. With the added bonus of this lovely cinnamon art!

Starbucks Oprah Cinnamon Chai Tea Latte: Too sweet although I do appreciate the new coconut milk option.

Ballard Coffee Works: Up there for sure as you get an option between spicy or sweet. I choose a little of each! Great alternative milk choices as well.

The Sprouted Kitchen

I've embarked on a new adventure-food and beverage photography and happened across this awesome site, The Sprouted Kitchen. Run by Sara and Hugh Forte, it's a plethora of amazing recipes and photography. All the photos are taken by Hugh and Sara is the chef and author. I just bought their book and excited to look through it with an Oprah Chai Tea Latte in hand. Here are some of my favorite shots. Looking at all this yummy food isn't gonna help my diet. ;)

Annie Atkins, my new hero

I came across an interview with the fabulous designer/art director Annie Atkins. She was the lead for all the graphic pieces in the film The Grand Budapest by my favorite director, Wes Anderson. I so respect and admire that everything was done by hand or how it would have been produced in the 30's. Down to the newspaper which Wes Anderson wrote every word of. Dream job indeed! All photos are from Annie Atkin's site which she so graciously let me use.

Such care, detail and craft in each piece. Most don't get scene but help the actors with character development and authenticity of story.

The last scene filled-the opener to the story and Annie's favorite item. Three were made in case they needed backups.

A model was photographed and the sign was hand-lettered by Annie that was based off a real steel hotel sign from the 30's. The uneven spacing was a Wes Anderson touch.

Getty's New Lean in Collection

Thursday, March 20th, I was at an inspiring presentation from Getty Images Director of Visual Trends Pam Grossman and to celebrate the launch of the Lean In Collection in partnership with Leanin.org.

This is very exciting and another great step in celebrating equality. Considering that females comprise 85% of purchase decisions, we really need to be cognizant of how we're portraying women (and men) in media.
